Vinicius Jr has apparently taken a cheeky swipe at Barcelona, with a tweet he shared welcoming Real Madrid’s latest acquisition, Arda Guler.
Real Madrid announced the signing of Arda Guler from Fenerbahce, SK on Thursday, the 6th of July, 2023.
Arda Guler penned a six-year deal with the Santiago Bernabeu club, meaning he will remain with the side until at least the summer of 2029.
Los Blancos confirmed the deal with a statement shared on the club’s website, which reads:
“Real Madrid CF and Fenerbahçe SK have agreed on the transfer of the player Arda Güler, who will be linked to our club for the next six seasons.”
Guler has been likened to Barcelona great, Lionel Messi due to their similar pattern of playing the round leather game.
The 18-year-old has been linked with many teams across Europe and the Blaugarana side were amongst the clubs eyeing his services.
Reports had even indicated a breakthrough in talks between Arda Guler and Barcelona.
However, the Turkey International has snubbed the Catalan giants and he has opted for a move to Real Madrid.

Following the confirmation of his arrival, Vinicius Jr took to twitter to share a welcome message, which reads:
“One more that chooses the largest 🤍😍”
The tweet which has since gone on to amass over 300,000 likes has been viewed by over 25 million netizens.

Players That Have Opted To Join Real Madrid Instead Of Barcelona
Whilst Vinicius Jr was still at Flamingo, the Camp Nou club were also amongst the clubs who were interested in getting his signature.
The Brazilian opted to join Real Madrid in 2017, joining the club for a reported fee of €46 million.
Barcelona were also interested in Rodrygo Goes and Endrick, both players also chose to join Real Madrid.
This appears to be an area, Los Blancos have trumped their rivals in recent years, with youngsters seemingly more fascinated at joining the club.
Barcelona’s current financial woes has also resulted in their inability to make some high-profile signings.
Arda Guler is Real Madrid’s fourth signing this summer, having already acquired Joselu, Fran Garcia and Jude Bellingham.
Guler will bolster the midfield of the 14-time Champions League winners and he is also one for the future.
Guler’s stats with Fernerbahce
The Turkish midfielder made 35 appearances for Fernerbahce last season, scoring 6 goals and providing 7 assists in all competitions.
Cumulatively, he made 51 appearances for The Yellow Canaries, scoring 9 goals and providing 12 assists.
Real Madrid are putting necessary measures in midfield as they look to transition from the Kroos, Casemiro, Modric era to another set of midfield dynamos.
They have already signed Jude Bellingham this summer, in addition to Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni which they acquired in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are also edging closer to securing a deal for Brazilian wonderkid, Vitor Roque.
The Blaugarana side have reportedly agreed a deal with Athletico Paranaense for the transfer of the teenager.
