Kylian Mbappe Visits His Father Country, Welcomed By Massive Crowd

    Paris Saint Germain and the captain of France national team, Kylian Mbappe, visited Cameroon on Thursday, 6th of July, 2023.

    The former AS Monaco forward landed in the country’s capital Yaounde, as he was welcomed by thousands of people in the region.

    Cameroon is Kylian Mbappe’s father’s native country and it was the first time that the 24-year-old football player visited the country.

    His first visit to the West African country attracted a huge attention as expected. A lot of people were seen gathered outside Yaounde International Airport as he arrived for a three days stay.

    Many fans among the hundreds of people who greeted the PSG forward were outfitted in his current club side football shirt for the event.

    The fans screamed excitedly, calling his name as he emerged from the country airport in Yaounde.

    According to reports, a group of a Hundred Time-honored Dancers conducted a rhythm performance in his honor.

    They were seen smiling widely as the 24-year-old star waved to the crowd who were kept at a distance by the police before the footballer was dashed away in a tinted SUV vehicle.

    Kylian Mbappe’s schedule during his stay in Cameroon

    During his three days stay in Cameroon, Mbappe, the current Ligue 1 title winner will stay at a hotel complex belonging to the family of Yannick Noah, a French former tennis champion who lives in Yaounde.

    On Friday, 7th of July, 2023, Kylian Mbappe is arranged to tour a school for the deaf and hearing impaired.

    The school which is located in the suburbs of the Cameroonian capital was refurbished with funds provided by Kylian Mbappe’s charity “Inspired by KM”.

    On Saturday, 8th of July, the 24-year-old Real Madrid transfer target will visit Djebale, the village of his father and his first football coach, Wilfried Mbappe.

    His father departed Cameroon at a youthful age for France where he became a football coach.

    It is expected that retired NBA player Joakim Noah’s son, will join Mbappe in a basketball game he will be participating in. Later, he will play for FC Vent d’Etoudi, a Cameroonian club in the second tier, in a football game.

    The French footballer is expected to meet with government officials, including Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, according to a statement released by his team.

    According to the statement, during the meeting, the two parties will discuss the establishment of various projects in Cameroon.

    Mbappe’s future with Paris Saint-Germain has been the subject of much speculation ahead of the visit to Cameroon.

    Last month, Mbappe announced that he would not be renewing his contract with PSG, which is set to expire in 2024. However, he has since signaled that he would like to remain at the club for one more season.

    Therefore, the club must sell the player within the current transfer window or risk losing him for free when his contract expires.

    Mbappe transferred to PSG from Monaco in the summer of 2017 in a deal reportedly worth 180 million euro ($196 million) and has gone on to establish himself as one of the world’s most distinguished football players.

    Mapper played a key role in PSG last season helping the French powerhouse secure the Ligue 1 title alongside Lionel Messi, his former teammate.

    What’s next for Kylian Mbappe?

    The 24-year-old 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will be back in PSG camp after he visits Cameroon in preparation for the club’s pre-season tour before the 2023/2024 French Ligue 1 season kicks-off.

    In addition, Mbappe is the latest European player to visit an African country after Memphis Depay and several others.
