Vinicius Jr punished Atletico Madrid and their erring fans following his impressive contribution in Thursday’s Copa Del Rey quarter-final 3-1 victory.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr was subjected to another racial stigma as Atletico Madrid fans hung a black effigy of the Brazilian from a bridge in the Spanish capital ahead of their Copa del Rey quarter-final clash on Thursday, January 26th.

Some unknown Atletico Madrid supporters have stirred up unrest as they hung a mannequin wearing the shirt of Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior off a bridge despite several warnings against insulting footballers.

The ugly occurrence happened following the local rivals’ Copa del Rey quarter-finals clash on Thursday, January 26.

Meanwhile, meetings between these two biggest clubs in Spain’s capital; Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have, most of the time, come with fiery affairs.

Vinicius was once subjected to racial abuse by his City rivals during their La Liga clash earlier this season in September.

Footage of some Atletico supporters chanting “Vinicius is a monkey” was filmed outside the stadium, while monkey noises were audible each time the Brazilian forward touched the ball at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Vinicius later went on rage at the racist abuse hurled at him, calling for lifetime bans of those found guilty.

And recent meetings between the two rival clubs have taken on a hostile zone, with the Brazilian forward, Vinicius Jr on the receiving end of vile insults again.

The grim doll, donning the Brazilian Real Madrid’s shirt was adorned in red and white of Atletico and accompanied by a banner that reads: ‘Madrid hates Real Madrid’.

Whereas, both rival clubs and La Liga have come out in response to the ugly event, condemning such vile acts perpetrated by a group of Atletico fans.

Atletico’s official statement read: “Acts like this are repugnant and inadmissible and shame society.

“Our condemnation of any act that attacks the dignity of people or institutions is categorical and unreserved.”

The visitors further added on their club’s website. “The rivalry between the two clubs is at its maximum, but so is respect. No individual, whatever their intentions or colors, can stain the coexistence between different fans.”

The shocking act was also condemned by the Spanish football body, La Liga who have called for criminal proceedings against the perpetrators.

Spanish football’s governing body added in a Tweet: “LaLiga strongly condemns acts of hatred and intimidation against [Vinicius Junior]. LaLiga, as in the past, will press for an investigation into the matter by relevant state security forces and bodies, seeking convictions for those responsible and requesting the most severe sentences.”

One could say the vile attack against the Real Madrid star forward, Vinicius was a tactic mostly adopted between warring rivals to cause emotional distress and wreck their adversaries’ confidence.

However, the Atletico fans that perpetrated this have failed woefully in their presumed attempt to destroy the Brazilian’s dazzling form and prevent him from maximizing his potential.

Despite Atletico’s early command of the match, as Morata tapped in Nahuel Molina’s square ball from close range in the 19th minute to put the hosts behind, the Los Blancos eventually had a dramatic comeback.

Ancelotti’s men needed an extra-time finishing to seal their dramatic Copa del Rey comeback as they drowned rivals Atletico Madrid with a 3-1 quarter-final victory on Thursday night.

Real Madrid was heading out at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium after their former superfine striker Alvaro Morata gave the first punch as he struck in the first-half goal for Atletico.

However, Rodrygo rejuvenated Madrid’s winning hope with a fantastic solo effort in the 79th minute before the Ballon d’Or holder Karim Benzema utilized Vinicius’ wonderful assist to make it 2-1.

It appears like a thorough spanking as Vincius punished Atletico Madrid and their erring fans to a shocking 3-1 dismal defeat.

The Brazilian legendary forward, Vinicius Jr completed the turnaround for the hosts after assisting Benzema’s goal in the last minute of the extra time.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid will join Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao, and Osasuna in the semi-finals. While Diego Simeone’s sides are still wallowing in the regret of missing out on the last four.
