Fans have taken to social media to troll Vincent Kompany, due to the poor start of Burnley to the Premier League season.
The Clarets sit 19th on the league table, with 4 points from 10 league matches, and they have been tipped by many as one of the sides that will be relegated to the Championship.
Burnley were sublime in the English second-tier division last season, and that saw them amass 101 points from 46 matches.
However, they haven’t been able to match up to the huge expectations placed on them this campaign.
Burnley’s style of play
Vincent Kompany masterminded his side to play a flamboyant pattern last season and it yielded the right dividend last term.
Unfortunately, that style of play hasn’t been able to lead them towards positivity in this campaign.
Their only victory this campaign came on October 3, 2023, against newly promoted Luton Town, whom they also defeated in the Championship last season.
In September 2023, they played out a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, and that is the entirety of the points they have secured so far this campaign.
Given the Clarets poor start to the season, some fans took the opportunity to poke fun at Vincent Kompany, linking him with Pep Guardiola, who he played under at Manchester City during his playing days.
There has been a silent comparison over the years regarding those who played under several managers and how they have fared in their managerial careers.
Pep Guardiola is a noticeable example, and many football enthusiasts have over time attributed the successes of younger managers like Xavi Hernandez and Mikel Arteta to his tutelage when they were in one capacity or the other under him.
Fans who are not on the Guardiola bandwagon have in that light also used such an opportunity to troll him and those managers when they don’t produce the right results.

“Reality and fantasy are parallel lines that will never meet.”
Vincent Kompany’s side face Everton next on November 1, 2023, in an EFL Cup 4th-round encounter.
They afterward welcome Crystal Palace to Turf Moor, as they look to turn their fortunes around this campaign.
Burnley are 2 points adrift of safety, and they also currently have a -17 goal difference, with Bournemouth who occupy the 17th spot having a -13 goal difference.
Vincent Kompany’s side have scored 25 goals this campaign and conceded 8 goals in 10 league matches.
