Ligue 1 giant, Paris St-Germain suffered two losses on Sunday evening – their 6th defeat of the season and star forward Neymar was stretched off during a domestic clash with Lyon with what appeared to be a serious ankle injury.

PSG lost the game 1-0. The recent loss against Lyon has left the Paris club on the third spot after 14 games. Lille and Lyon currently share the top spots with 29 points, one better than PSG.

The Brazilian was seen screaming in agony and clutching his ankle following a poor challenge from Thiago Mendes, who was sent off.

The difference between both sides was Tino Kadewere’s strike.

Neymar to have a test to know the extent of the injury

The next thing that will be required is for the Brazilian to have a scan and further test, which will reveal the extent of the injury.

“He’s with the physio and the doctors and we have to wait for the tests tomorrow (Monday),” PSG boss Thomas Tuchel told French broadcaster Telefoot.

This has been Neymar’s worst season in PSG jersey in terms of absence on the pitch.

Neymar didn’t start the season with the Paris club due to an injury. On his return to action, he got suspended due to a melee that occurred during the Marseille-PSG game.

Neymar in deep pain during PSG-Lyon clash

While he was planning to return to action, he suffered another set back, not from injury this time around, but from COVID-19.

Few days after returning from injury, he got injured in a Champions League clash against Turkish Champions, Istanbul Basaksehir.

28-year-old Neymar, who joined PSG for a world-record fee of 222m euros (£200m) from Barcelona in August 2017 has helped the club win three successive Ligue 1 titles as well as reach last season’s Champions League final.

PSG are seeded for today’s last 16 Champions League draw. It is hoped that he returns to the pitch as he aims to lift the trophy with the French club for the first time in their history, having declared the intention to commit his future to their cause.
