From a rejected Manchester City Academy graduate to the chief cornerstone at Chelsea, Cole Palmer is not slowing down soon on his heroics for Chelsea.
The Manchester City Academy graduate nailed home his first Premier League quadruple as Chelsea roasted Everton with a 6-0 victory in the Premier League on Monday, April 15.
A negligent Everton side were definitely set for the roast in Stamford Bridge after apparently underestimating the potential threat of the 2002 Manchester-born young talent.
Steeped in the relegation battle in the lower rungs of the Premier League table after an 8-point deduction, Sean Dyche needed to get the Toffees on track to boost survival hopes but it was a nightmare at Stamford Bridge.
It all started in the 13th minute when Cole Palmer floored Braithwaite and passed the ball to Nicolas Jackson while still on the run. He then ripped through the Everton wall, collected the ball again, and fired a first-time low shot into the bottom corner to give Chelsea the lead.
Five minutes after the opener, Mykhailo Mudryk initiated another Chelsea offensive that came through. He found Madueke, who dropped Garner and picked on the Ukrainian again. This time, Mudryk laid it out to Jackson, who made an attempt on goal. Jordan Pickford punched it out but the rebound fell on a platter for Palmer, who nodded it home to bag his brace.
Eleven minutes later, Cole Palmer completed his perfect hat-trick, no thanks to a poor clearance by Jordan Pickford.
Coming out of the goalkeeper’s box to pass the ball to his defender, the England goalkeeper saw his pass intercepted by Palmer, who wasted no effort chipping the ball over him into the back of the net.
At the stroke of halftime, Marc Cucurella found Nicolas Jackson with a wonderful cross and the Senegalese forward made no mistake converting from close range to make it 4-0.
Everton further compounded their woes when Tarkowski clipped down Madueke in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Cole Palmer converted it with ease to make it 5-0.
Promising youngster, Alfie Gilchrist scored his first Chelsea goal and completed the rout at the stroke of regulation time.
The win saw Chelsea leap out of the bottom half of the Premier League table to ninth position with 47 points in 31 games while Everton are stuck in sixteenth position with 27 points, 2 points away from the relegation zone.
