An entertaining 90 minutes of action at the Emirates Stadium, culminated with Arsenal clawing their way back to smash Manchester United courtesy of two stoppage time goals.
Both sides displayed excellent footballing artistry in the game, as they took play to the opposition, every now and then.
Mikel Arteta’s side recorded the game’s first big chance in the 14th minute, after Gabriel Martinelli sent a cross into the area of Manchester United.
Dalot headed the resultant cross coincidentally to the body of Martial, and Kai Havertz was well positioned to pounce for Arsenal.
However, he miscued his attempt, leaving Lisandro Martinez with the opportunity to do the clean up for Manchester United.
The two teams continued to display hunger, but the Red Devils enjoyed the larger share of possession in the first 45.
Rashford netted a brilliant goal against Arsenal
Marcus Rashford rose to the occasion in the 27th minute, following a well threaded through ball onto the path of the Englishman.
Rashford broke free into the Arsenal area, cutting inside Ben White and then curling an irresistible shot beyond the reach of Aaron Ramsdale in goal for the Gunners.
Manchester United supporters were still celebrating their goal before Mikel Arteta’s side stunned them out of the blues.
Following a nice piece of play in the half of Erik Ten Hag’s side, Martin Odegaard was found free in the front of Manchester United’s 18-yard-box.
Odegaard made no mistake firing a beautiful shot into the bottom-right corner, beating Andre Onana in goal for Manchester United.
In the 38th minute of action, Victor Lindelof picked up a yellow card for a foul on Eddie Nketiah, who was trying to sneak behind the defender.
The two teams continued to display their determination, and after a quick passage of play, Rashford tried a speculative effort from 25 yards out, but it was too high to be on target.
Bukayo Saka also got his name taken into the referee’s book for a reckless foul on Bruno Fernandes.
Both teams went into the break tied
The game ended in a draw after the first 45 minutes, with both sides going into the break offering their fans much to expect in the second half.
The second half began with Arsenal imposing themselves in the game, but Manchester United recorded the first big chance in the second 45 minutes.
Bruno Fernandes located Anthony Martial running through the left side of the area in the 55th minute and Martial did well to power a great shot at Ramsdale.
Goalkeeper Ramsdale did well to punch the ball onto Rashford, whose effort was blocked by Gabriel.
4 minutes later, Arsenal thought they had a massive opportunity to go ahead after referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the box.
Initially, Taylor called for a penalty after Wan-Bissaka seemingly had a trailing foot which caught Kai Havertz.
However, after consulting the VAR and reviewing the action via the monitor, he canceled the penalty.
In the 65th minute, Lisandro Martinez was handed a yellow card for a rash challenge on Eddie Nketiah.
Erik Ten Hag afterward introduced Rasmus Hojlund for Anthony Martial, and the Dane had an impressive debut.
Harry Maguire also came in for Lisandro Martinez, after it appeared the Argentine defender couldn’t continue.
In the 68th minute, Arsenal almost took the lead when Martinelli side-footed his effort from 20-yards out.
Andre Onana was shown a yellow card after the referee judged him to be wasting time.
In the 76th minute, Gabriel Jesus was substituted for Eddie Nketiah, and Takehiro Tomiyasu came on for Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Arsenal defeat Manchester United via two stoppage time goals
The game looked like it was going to end in a draw, however, the story turned out differently.
Jonny Evans replaced Victor Lindelof in the 84th minute, while Alejandro Garnacho was substituted into the fray for Anthony.
Four minutes later, Alejandro Garnacho thought he had won the game for Manchester United with a cool finish beating goalkeeper Ramsdale.
However, following a review by VAR, Anthony Taylor ruled out the goal for offside, and many were stunned by the decision.
Gabriel Jesus was yellow carded in the 89th minute for dissent, and after the end of 90 minutes of action, the referee signaled for 8 minutes additional time.
Reiss Nelson replaced Gabriel Martinelli in the 90th minute, and shockingly, with 2 minutes to the end of added time, Declan Rice came up clutch for the Gunners.
Following a nice delivery from Bukayo Saka off a corner, Declan Rice chested the ball nicely, and immediately whopped a great shot beating Onana in goal for Manchester United.
Jorginho was then substituted for Martin Odegaard, and while everyone thought it was over, Gabriel Jesus put in a soccer punch, humbling the visiting Manchester United supporters.
Fabio Viera found Jesus who was unmarked in the middle of Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire, the Brazilian then ran into the box, scoring with confidence and panache.
He sat down the rushing Diogo Dalot and placed a delightful ball past Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana.
After 90 minutes of action, the Gunners recorded a remarkable 3-1 victory over Manchester United, and it was an encounter that could have turned out differently on another day.
However, Erik Ten Hag’s side will return to Manchester, gutted that they let their guard lose, while Arsenal would be basking in the victory they had.
