Marcus Rashford has become the 4th highest paid player in the English Premier League after he signed a new deal with Manchester United.

Manchester United have confirmed that the 25-year-old England striker has put pen to paper on a new deal with the Premier League powerhouse that will run through the summer of 2028, putting an end to the speculation regarding his future.

On Tuesday, July 18th, the English International player agreed to stay at Old Trafford by signing a new five years contract with a crucial 375,000 pounds per week wages making him the fourth highest paid player in the Premier League.

    What happened to Marcus Rashford?

Marcus Rashford has entered the final 12 months of his current 250,000 pounds per week contract this month and would have been a free agent next summer.

The Manchester United academy product had been uncertain about his long-term future at the club, with his previous contract due to expire at the end of next season.

Marcus Rashford has been strongly linked with a move away from the 20 times English Premier League-winning club with several European clubs set to sign him.

It was reported that Paris Saint Germain have previously been heavily linked with the English player, who has represented Man United in 359 games, scoring 123 goals and registering 68 assists in the process.

Rashford’s agent and brother, Dwaine Maynard, visited Paris Saint-Germain for more than a year to secure a contract but he couldn’t seal the deal.

However, Marcus Rashford has put an end to the reports linking him with a move away from Old Trafford by putting pen to paper on a new five years contract until the summer of 2028, giving head coach Erik ten Hag a massive boost ahead of the 2023/2024 Premier League season.

Speaking after signing his contract extension Marcus Rashford said: “I joined Manchester United as a seven years old boy with a dream. That same passion, pride, and determination to succeed still drive me every time I have the honor of wearing the shirt”.

“I’ve already had some amazing experiences at this incredible club, but there is still a lot more to achieve and I remain relentlessly determined to win more trophies in the years ahead”.

“As a United fan all my life, I know the responsibility that comes with representing this badge and feels the highs and lows as much as anyone”.

He added: “I can assure you that I will give everything to help the team reach the level we are capable of, and I can feel the same determination around the dressing room. I couldn’t be more excited for the future under this manager”.

The new 375 pounds per week for Rashford means he will stay as one of the highest-paid in the Premier League with only Erling Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne, and Mo Salah believed to be earning more.

In addition, Rashford is now the highest paid player at Manchester United and the highest paid English player in the Premier League.

If Rashford, now 25, remains at Old Trafford until the end of the current deal in 2028, he would earn £97 million.

Marcus Rashford’s contract extension update has become the latest positive development at United ahead of next season after signing Mason Mount from Chelsea and reaching an agreement with Inter Milan for goalkeeper Andre Onana.
