TSG Hoffenheim are said to be interested in signing Borussia Dortmund defender, Dan-Axel Zagadou.

The 23-year-old French footballer will become a free agent this summer after his contract expires this summer. Borussia Dortmund has refused to offer him a new deal and the two parties have now decided to end their relationship.

He is said to be one of the top targets for TSG Hoffenheim alongside other players such as Manchester City defender Ko Itakura and VfL Wolfsburg defender John Brooks.

As of today, only TSG Hoffenheim has registered their interest in the 23-year-old central defender, with reports claiming that Arsenal has decided not to pursue his transfer.

A player with massive potential and well experienced in the Bundesliga, Axel Zagadou would be a quality signing for TSG Hoffenheim. He is very strong and durable in the air and has excellent passing ability.

Although he has had injury problems in the past few years and his lack of concentration in matches has proved to be a weakness, he can still show his defensive abilities when he rediscovers his form. His recurring knee injuries also forced him to undergo knee surgery which kept him out at the start of the season.

Axel Zagadou signed for Borussia Dortmund from Paris Saint Germain in 2017 on a free transfer. Since then, he has appeared for Dortmund on 91 different occasions. This season, he appeared only 22 times for the Yellow Submarines across all competitions.

He was recently asked about what the future holds for him and he said he is keeping all tabs open and exploring other possible options.

TSG Hoffenheim’s new head coach André Breitenreiter will be pleased to work with the towering center back, as they look to contend for European spot next season after they finished ninth place in the Bundesliga.
