Transfer News: Napoli announced the signing of former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian all-time goal scorer ended his second spell with Chelsea to move to Napoli.
The Seria A giants paid £25 million with £12 million in potential add-ons.
Lukaku signed a three-year contract with the Napoli side. His arrival will push Victor Osimhen out of the Napoli squad as Lukaku is expected to start all Napoli matches this season.
Osimhen has handed a transfer request and may consider a move to Chelsea Football Club before the end of the transfer window.
Antonio Conte and Lukaku worked together at Inter Milan. In two seasons with the team, Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 games in all competitions for the Serie A club.
He won the 2020-21 Serie A title with Inter Milan under Antonio Conte before completing a move to Chelsea.
The West London team paid £97.5 million for the Belgian striker. He has not played for Chelsea football club in the last two years, spending the last two seasons on loan to Serie A teams, AS Roma and Inter Milan.
Napoli have also completed the signing of Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay from Manchester United for a transfer fee worth £25 million with £5 million in add-ons.
Ajax Have Completed The Signing Of Former Manchester United star Wout Weghorst
Ajax announced the signing of former Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst from Burnley on a permanent basis.
The Eredivisie giants, Ajax, will pay a fee worth £4.2 million. Before Weghorst completed a move to Ajax, he said: “For me, the total package has to be right; we are having our fourth child, and we have travelled a lot as a family in recent years. Ajax is the biggest club in the Netherlands; I don’t need to say more.”
Upon the completion of the deal, Ajax technical director Alex Kroes said, “Wout stands for an absolute top sports experience, and we find that extremely important at Ajax. He is a prolific striker who constantly makes things difficult for every opponent.”
“There are many matches coming up in the next few months, so we are happy that Wout is joining us.”
Weghorst arrival at Ajax could bring an end to Chuba Akpom’s reign in the starting eleven just one year after joining the Middlesbrough team.
The 32-year-old Dutch striker made 22 appearances for Burnley since moving to the Turf Moor in January 2022.
Since he completed a move to England, the Dutch striker has had three separate loans. One of the loan deals was moving to Manchester United in the 2022–23 season.
The Dutch striker played 31 matches under Erik Ten Hag. He scored two goals in all competitions for the Red Devils. Also, he helped Manchester United win the Carabao Cup over Newcastle in February 2022.
His other loan spells were at Besiktas and Hoffenheim.
