The 53-year-old Italian coach provided an update on the successful removal of his gallbladder which was causing him abdominal pain and thanked the club fans on Wednesday, February 1st.

Before then, Tottenham confirmed that their coach, Antonio Conte will undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder after he was diagnosed with cholecystitis.

The report of the 53-year-old’s ailment went viral early on Wednesday as he was diagnosed with cholecystitis after complaining of severe abdominal pain.

In Spur’s official statement, it was confirmed that the former Chelsea boss, Conte will not be seen in coaching action for a “period of recuperation” after the surgery.

Following the diagnosis, the Italian coach underwent a gall bladder removal operation and posted a message of thanks to the club fans and well-wishers after the successful surgery.

Conte reacted to the successful surgery via his personal Instagram account as he wrote: “Thank you for your lovely messages.

“My surgery has gone well and I’m already feeling better. Now it’s time to recover, I can’t wait to get back on the field with the team.”

It remains unclear how long Antonio Conte will be absent from the touchline with assistant Cristian Stellini taking charge of the senior team till the head coach recuperates fully.

But according to an NHS report, it can take up to two months before a patient who underwent gallbladder surgery can return to full activities.

The 53-year-old Italian manager could miss Tottenham’s crucial home clash against Manchester City on Sunday, 5th of February.

Tottenham will again engage in a fierce rumble with Leicester the following weekend before embarking on a trip to AC Milan for the return of their Champions League campaign on valentine’s day, February 14.

It remains uncertain whether Conte would have recovered fully to coach his side in the aforementioned fixtures since no firm timeframe has been given for his recovery.

Meanwhile, this league season has been a difficult and emotional one for the Italian coach including the usual stress and pressure of management on the touchlines of the Premier League club.

Last year in October, the 53-year-old was thrown into mourning after the sudden death of Gian Piero Ventrone, who was his friend for many years, his close confidante, and Spur’s fitness instructor.

Two months later, another friend named Sinisa Mihajlovic died of cancer at the age of 53 after struggling with it for a long time.

And the recent heartache occurred last month with the passing of another Conte’s friend and former team-mate Gianluca Vialli.

His assistant Cristian Stellini believes Conte is a strong man who can overcome any odds life throws at him as he described him as a ‘tough man’ with ‘closed feelings’ when he stepped in to take care of Conte’s media duties after Vialli’s death.
