Ange Postecoglou has revealed why his side Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City was the worst game of his career.

Postecoglou, who has had a decent first season with the Lilywhites, ended up clashing with some Tottenham fans, who celebrated Erling Haaland’s opener for Manchester City in the game.

After a barren first half, Haaland fired City into the lead in the second 45 to have the Manchester club overtake challengers Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans were seen celebrating the goal in the stands. Ahead of the game, Futballnews learned a section of Tottenham fans wanted Manchester City to win against their side to stop their North London neighbors Arsenal from winning the Premier League title.

Ange Postecoglou misread the mood among Tottenham Hotspur fans and was left fuming up to the point of clashing with a fan for supporting Manchester City.

Speaking after the game,
the former Celtic manager admitted he suffered the worst night of his 28-year managerial career following the shocking reaction of Tottenham Hotspur fans during the 2-0 loss to City.

He added the fans’ weird reaction showed a lot needs to be done internally and externally to return Tottenham Hotspur to an elite club as he could not understand why fans would want their own club to lose a competitive game.

“It was so disappointing and the worst moment of my career. How can fans want their clubs to lose a match? Truly, a lot has to be done to reposition the club,” Ange Postecoglou said.

The Aussie tactician also added the atmosphere put pressure on his role and made him worried that his integrity could be questioned.

‘’Once I realised I got it wrong in terms of what the atmosphere would be like and what people felt, I got a real anxiety within me.

‘‘I got in cold sweats thinking about people questioning my integrity and the people I work with. I’m very principled. I would hate to think people would be questioning whether I prepared the team.”

While Tottenham’s loss to City handed the defending champions a crucial advantage over Arsenal ahead of the final matchday, Tottenham blew away their faint hopes of securing Champions League football following the loss.

Postecoglou will hope to finish the season strong by returning the team to winning ways against Sheffield United in the final matchday.
