Tottenham and Juventus Complete Agreement with Dejan Kulusevski’s Juventus teammate Rodrigo Bentancur, only hours after they reached an agreement with the Swedish offensive Midfielder.
That’s an incredible price for a man who will undoubtedly boost Tottenham’s midfield options.
Spurs will not spend more than £20 million for him, and might pay as low as £15,000 if he reaches all of his escalators. This is a really neat and clean piece of work.
Bentancur’s signing implies they’ll no longer be interested in Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, according to Friend of the Blog Dan Kilpatrick.
That’s great, since although Amrabat was reportedly a target for Spurs boss Antonio Conte, Bentancur is a superior player and has signed a permanent contract with the club.
Spurs have solved one of their most important requirements with the acquisition of Bentancur, particularly with the impending departures of Tanguy Ndombele and (potentially) Gio Lo Celso. Kulusevski seems to compensate for Dele’s or Steven Bergwijn’s likely (who is still linked to Ajax).
The main areas of concern are a backup striker, right wing back, and center defense. Not all of them will be addressed during the January transfer window, but I’d be astonished if Spurs didn’t have any more aces up their sleeves with one day left in the window.
Overall, a really great piece of work, even though it was completed late.
