The 2022 summer transfer window closed on September 1, 2022, with different clubs producing world-class talent and selling them for world-record fees. It is not a new thing that the Premier League clubs will always be among the clubs capable of spending €100 million on players.
Below are the top eight clubs that earned the most in the 2022 summer transfer window:
1. Ajax
In the 2022 summer transfer window, Ajax made the most money, selling six different players, with a significant amount coming from Manchester United alone. The English club paid the Dutch champions €167 million for Lisandro Martinez and Antony, which was more than their estimated revenue last year of €110 million.
Both Martinez and Antony have started on a very good note for the club, with Antony scoring on his debut against Arsenal.
2. Sporting CP
The Portuguese club is well-known for producing world-class players, and this season they sold their big names for €120 million, with the majority of their players joining Premier League clubs. Despite selling their key players, the club could still remain in better form this season.
3. Brighton
This season was the busiest for Premier League side Brighton. They have earned a whopping €113 million from selling players. From the club, Tottenham Hotspur signed Yves Bissouma, while Chelsea signed their left back and Brighton player of the season, Marc Cucurella.
Brighton didn’t stop there. They allowed Neal Maupay to move to Everton before finally selling their center back Leo Ostigard.
4. Monaco
After Monaco’s impressive season, their best players were demanded by big clubs in Europe. The French side sold Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid. A total of 15 players left the club and a total sale of €119 million was made.
5. Lille
Lille had an outstanding season with a Champions League round of 16 and a top four league finish.
13 different players left the club. Among them were Sven Botman, who moved to Newcastle, and Renato Sanchez, who moved to Paris Saint-German. Lille made a total sale of €99 million.
6. Benfica
Benfica sold 19 players for €127 million before the closure of the 2022 summer transfer window. After their impressive performance in the Champions League.
Darwin Nunez, who scored more than 30 goals last season, was the biggest sale of the season, for €100 million to English side Liverpool.
7. Leicester
Leicester were not active in the transfer market this season, signing only two players for club manager Brendan Rodgers.
But the outgoing has been magnificent. Leicester sold one of the most promising talents Wesley Fofana, to Chelsea for €80 million and Kasper Schmeichel to OGC Nice for €1 million. The club failed to replace them and has been struggling in the league.
8. Sevilla
Sevilla’s biggest sale in the transfer window was Jules Kounde to Barcelona for €50 million. 14 players left the club, with most of them returning to their former clubs after completing a loan spell.
They made a total income of €91.5 million from sales of players and a total expenditure of €28 million, with an overall balance of €63.5 million.
