Erling Haaland of Manchester City becomes the first player in the history of the Champions League to score 25 goals in 20 appearances and also the youngest to do so at 22 years and 47 days breaking Kylian Mbappe’s record of 22 years and 80 days.

Haaland is averaging a goal every 63 minutes. The highest goals-per-minute ratio in the history of the league makes Haaland the most prolific goal scorer in Champions League history ahead of the king of Champions League football, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The striker scored two goals in his first appearance for Manchester City with Phil Foden and Ruben Diaz scoring a goal each against Sevilla as the English Champions defeated Sevilla by four goals to nil.

The Norwegian made it 11 goals in seven matches for his new club, with ten of them coming from Premier League matches.

Haaland was also the fourth player to score in his first appearances for three different clubs (RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester City) in the Champions League.

Even Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the tournament’s top scorer, could not get those statistics in his first 20 appearances. If Manchester City’s Haaland continues to play with so much intensity and character, he might end up breaking Ronaldo’s record of 140 goals.

PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Haaland have been tipped to break both Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s consistency in the Champions League, and if you take a good look at the stats, it really seems possible.

Mbappe has 35 goals in 56 appearances. Only 36 players in the history of the competition have scored more goals than Haaland.

Haaland has been ranked 41st with big name players like Edin Dzeko, Robin Van Persie, and Herman Crespo in terms of Champions League goals.

Haaland’s positioning has been a good one for Manchester City, and it is making it easy for the club’s players to be able to find him when necessary.

Pep Guardiola has used it effectively, and it looks like he will be the manager’s secret weapon to win the most prestigious trophy in Europe.

Manchester City need to survive against bigger teams that don’t get possession but score a lot of goals, and Guardiola should try not to overthink this time around to make it to the Champions League final and win the trophy.

    What Next For Erling Haaland?

The striker has a more interesting match in the Premier League against Tottenham on September 10, 2022, at 5:30 pm. Tottenham have been in the form of their lives and can shock Manchester City.

However, Christian Romero will find it hard to survive against the big monster Haaland. Tottenham defeated Manchester City on two different occasions in the Premier League season.

It’s all about vengeance for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who wants to win every game to reclaim the Premier League title from the other 19 teams.

Will Haaland become a legend at Manchester City?

Manchester City fans are already loving him and he may end up becoming the club all-time highest goal scorer if he stays in the next four seasons at the club. There is no limit to what the Norwegian can achieve at Manchester City.
