Chelsea and Germany winger Timo Werner looks set to leave the club this summer as Chelsea prepare to release up to 15 players from their squad to streamline their playing squad ahead of the new campaign.
The Blues understand the new ownership of Todd Boehly has been busy in the current summer transfer window with the signing of Raheem Sterling from Man City and Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. They have also sold three players and are likely to release more before the closure of the window.
The Blues are still interested in signing Jules Kounde and Prisnel Kimpembe from Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
Amid his uncertain future at Chelsea, Timo Werner who’s in search of more playing time also hinted that he could leave the West London club this summer.
“It is clear I want to play more and I should play more to first be in good shape for the World Cup and, also, to have a chance to play at the World Cup,” he said.
Although some clubs are interested in signing the German player, no official bid has been submitted yet. Chelsea fullbacks Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are also expected to leave this summer and could join the Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona.

Barça has also secured the services of Andreas Christensen who became a free agent after his contract with Chelsea expired last season.
In the same vein, there are also doubts over Hakim Ziyech ’s future as the Moroccan started just 29 Premier League games across two seasons at the club.
The Morocco winger Hakim Ziyech has also revealed that he’s no longer working with his agent as he plans to handle his future by himself.
