Thibaut Courtois granted interviews to four different media outlets in four different languages after Real Madrid defeated Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Super Cup.
Real Madrid, the current Champions League winners, defeated Europa League champions Frankfurt 2-0 on Wednesday night at the Helsinki Arena thanks to goals from David Alaba and Karim Benzema.
Courtois, Los Blancos’ goalkeeper, has now preserved a clean sheet in all four of his last appearances after making a series of crucial saves.
The 30-year-old has risen to the position of full-time leader in the Real Madrid team’s locker room.
Courtois participated in four interviews back-to-back and easily moved between languages, according to Archie Rhind-Tutt.
According to reports, Courtois is fluent in Dutch, French, English, and Spanish and has a solid grasp of German and Portuguese.
It’s no wonder that he’s the first person a journalist contacts when they want to talk.
Given his connections to Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid’s 2018 acquisition of the Belgian international from Chelsea was at first criticized by Real’s fans due to his connection with Atletico.
Courtois spent three years at Atletico on loan, and even assisted them in winning La Liga in 2014—the same year they lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
But he overcame that, becoming one of the best shot blockers in football.
“The last three finals we’ve played we’ve kept a clean sheet. When Madrid plays a final they usually win it, it’s the DNA of this club and that’s why it’s the biggest,” In an interview with Movistar Plus after the game, Courtois stated.
Real hopes to retain La Liga for the first time in 15 years after winning the league last season.
This year’s World Cup, which will take place in November, will have a significant impact on the home campaign.
Courtois continued: “It’s always more difficult because the teams have more desire against a champion.
“Above all, in September and October, La Liga and the ‘Champions’ are important because we need to leave the club at the top of the table to go to the World Cup with our heads clear.”
Real will begin their domestic season on Sunday at Almeria.
Thibaut Courtois against Frankfurt
In addition to the fantastic interview in four languages, Courtois also excelled in goal for Real Madrid against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Super Cup game.
As his team defeated the holders of the Europa League to win the Super Cup in Finland on Wednesday, Courtois maintained a perfect record.
In his four finals with Real in domestic and UEFA competitions, Courtois has now stopped EVERY single shot on goal he has faced from opposition players.
Following Real’s exploits in the Champions League previous season, the matchup versus Frankfurt was scheduled.
They won their 14th European championship after defeating Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool in the championship game.
To prevent Jurgen Klopp’s team from scoring, Courtois staged one of the best goalkeeping efforts.
Real will begin the defense of their La Liga crown against Almeria on Sunday, and Courtois is expected to start.
