Sir Jim Ratcliffe declined to comment on whether Erik ten Hag will continue as the manager of Manchester United after the FA Cup final.
Erik Ten Hag led Manchester United to success at Wembley, defeating Manchester City to secure his second trophy with United on Saturday, May 25.
Manchester United finished in eighth place in the Premier League, marking their lowest final position since 1990.
Additionally, they were eliminated from the Champions League during the group stage.
Despite the ‘disappointing season, Ten Hag attributed these struggles to injuries and managed to secure European qualification through the FA Cup triumph.
The uncertainty surrounding Ten Hag’s future persists, with the 54-year-old making a final plea to retain his position after the FA Cup win.
A decision on his future was expected to be made following the FA Cup final, as Ratcliffe has already implemented changes off the field since his recent minority takeover of the club.
However, when questioned about his decision on Saturday, the British business tycoon chose to remain tight-lipped.
Amid Manchester United’s FA Cup celebration, Ratcliffe was approached by a reporter as he neared the end of Wembley’s corridor.
Just before reaching the exit, thee reporter called out, “Sir Jim,” prompting the United co-owner to stop and look to his left.
After a brief pause, the reporter asked him: ”Is Erik staying?”
In response, Jim Ratcliffe turned his back on the reporter and walked through the door, with murmurs heard in the mixed zone.
Meanwhile, following the FA Cup final victory against Manchester City, Erik ten Hag issued a warning to Manchester United’s owners, suggesting that he will continue winning trophies elsewhere if they choose to dismiss him.
Erik Ten Hag told reporters: “When I started here, I said I’m here to win, also I want to build a team. Both I’m doing.”
“If they don’t want me, I go anywhere else and do what I did my whole career, winning games and trophies.”
When asked if he had received any guarantees about the security of his job at United following reports of his possible dismissal, Ten Hag replied, “That’s what they’ve always told me in the past.
“It’s the same question every time. They don’t need to remind me every week.
“I don’t dwell on this. I am focused on the project at hand and we are right where we want to be. We are building a team for the future.”
The Dutchman joined Manchester United in 2022 and ended their six-year trophy drought by winning the League Cup last season.
Ten Hag should be credited with creating a clever game strategy that secured United’s spot in the Europa League by defeating their strong rival Manchester City to win the FA Cup.
What’s next for Erik Ten Hag?
Ten Hag’s future at United is uncertain as Sir Jim Ratcliffe is still deliberating on his choice for the manager role, with contenders such as Mauricio Pochettino and Kieran McKenna in consideration.
