Simone Inzaghi, Inter Milan Manager, has ripped out on Romelu Lukaku’s finishing in his previous matches.
Inter Milan have struggled recently in the past month, winning none of their last six games and taking just one point from their last Serie A matches.
Inzaghi has hit out at the Chelsea loanee Lukaku and claimed that his lack of finishing ability is the reason the team is lagging behind.
He spoke after Inter drew 1-1 with Salernitana with Lukaku missing several chances, he said: “I spoke about the head. I wouldn’t just stop with Salernitana either, I would also think about the chance against Fiorentina.”
Inzaghi’s team lost 1-0 to Fiorentina early in the month, Lukaku surprisingly missed from a very close range in the match.
The Italian manager went on to say: “Those games gave us two results that weren’t what we had envisaged. Those who write and those who talk a lot are influenced by the results, but you have to be clear-headed.”
“It’s difficult in football to put things to one side, but in the last few games, as shown by the team, I’m happy. Clearly I’m disappointed with the result.”
“Last year we won 5-0 [against Salernitana] and maybe we didn’t play as well as that on Friday.”
“In the first half alone we had four shots on goal and scored three, this time we had more than twenty and scored one. We know where we were wrong, there are always criticisms.”
Romelu Lukaku has just score three goals in 17 matches for Inter Milan this season, which is way less than his pervious performance in the club.
Under then Manager Antonio Conte, the former United and Everton player scored 64 goals in 95 matches and helped Inter Milan win the Serie A and Europa League.
His performance in Europe has been fine, as he has 2 goals in three matches. Hence, Inter meeting with Benfica on Tuesday in the Champions League is a chance for him to redeem himself.
