The former Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Jassim, has made a world-record bid in excess of £5 billion to take total control over Manchester United.
The current chairman of the Qatar Islamic Bank offered the third bid a minute before the deadline set by the Glazers family. It is going to be a leave-or-take bid from Sheikh Jassim.
If the deal goes through, it will pass NFL side Washington Commanders £4.8 billion deal.
Sheikh Jassim’s offer is very attractive because it includes a lot of investment in Erik Ten Hag’s squad to compete in the Premier League next season.
Also, it includes the development of the infrastructure around the club in terms of the renovation of Old Trafford, the training center, and the local area.
In addition, the offer will clear all Manchester United debt worth £535 million.
People who are close to Sheikh Jassim believe this is the best bid for the football club.
In addition, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS majority stake has been sent to the Raine group before the Friday deadline at 10 p.m. Ratcliffe wants to buy 50% of Manchester United’s shares.
This will leave the Glazers with minority shares of around 20%, but the Glazers will still be the major influencer when it comes to decision-making.
Ratcliffe’s offer will not be welcomed by a large portion of Manchester United fans because they want the Glazers family out of the club after 18 years of ownership with little investment in the club.
Elliot Investment Fund’s planned bid for a minority stake for the Glazers family to stay at the club has not been confirmed, nor has that of other interested parties.
The final round of the bid moves the club to the end of a five-month saga since the Glazers family announced they would be selling the club in November 2022.
The desire to sell the club came after Cristiano Ronaldo publicly criticized the management of the football club.
However, it is now up to the Glazers family to decide whether they want to sell the club or not, with a record fee on the table. The Glazers are going to make a lot of profit from the sale of the club.
