Mauricio Pochettino’s team had to work a bit to get a goal off the post just before half-time, which was Marco Verratti’s first league goal since 2017.

Ramos forced a stop before converting the rebound after the interval, and an own goal by Wout Faes sealed the victory.

In the 88th minute, Danilo converted a deflection for his fourth goal of the season, putting PSG 11 points ahead at the top of Ligue 1.

The victory was largely attributable to Verratti’s accurate first goal, since Reims had been competitive for more than 40 minutes prior to that.

After forcing a save from Keylor Navas in the first half, Bradley Locko wrote that Newcastle target Hugo Ekitike was active up attack, blazing over after cutting through from the left wing.

Verratti’s finish, though, ensured that PSG could play with grace and patient after the half, and Ramos scored a second after his original attempt was fumbled by the goalkeeper.

The former Real Madrid captain scored his first goal for PSG in just his fourth appearance, and Reims were forced to concede.

Despite the fact that Lionel Messi came off the bench and set up Verratti for what seemed to be the Italian’s second goal, a deflection on its way into the net was enough to have the goal awarded to the unlucky Faes instead.

A brilliant assist for Danilo came from Kylian Mbappe, who had sprinted away from his opponent down the left wing. It was the Frenchman’s second goal of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain have gone 13 games undefeated in Ligue 1, and the disparity in ability – even if they were tested early on – underscores how tough it will be for the chasing pack to go anywhere near them.
