The two Spanish stars were acknowledged by the organizers and the fans as both players took a front-row seat at Jacksonville.

Ramos and Torres came to cheer Illia Topuria, Georgian featherweight fighter, during his fight against former title contender Josh Emmet.

Illia Topuria showcased a dominant match over the American as all three judges gave the fight to him which put him in title contention.

The featherweight contender was hailed and greeted backstage by Ramos and Torres as they posed for pictures.

Sergio Ramos departed Ligue 1 Champions PSG at the end of last season after his two-year spell at Parc des Princes.

Torres on the other hand had endured a difficult spell under coach Xavi Hernandez but played a role in Barcelona’s La Liga title-winning season.

Josh Emmett literally looked unrecognizable after his featherweight showdown with Ilia Topuria.

The star locked horns with the surging 145lb contender on Saturday 24th June, 2023 in the main event of UFC Jacksonville.

Emmett before the match was hoping to halt the Georgian-born Spaniard’s assault on the division but came up short, suffering a unanimous decision defeat.

Emmett, 38, struggled to deal with Topuria’s slick boxing, in particular, his stiff jab and was dropped in the second and fourth rounds – the latter of which was a one-sided beat-down.

The American’s face suffered the brunt of the damage, with his left eye bleeding profusely as it was nearly swollen shut.

Topuria’s drubbing of the No.5-ranked Emmett extended his record to a perfect 14-0, with six of those victories coming inside the octagon.

Illia Topuria, nicknamed El Matador, has now set his sights on featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski, who defended his title in a unification fight with Yair Rodriguez in a fortnight.

Topuria said: “I’m the next guy in the line.“

“Who deserves more than me to fight for the title? No one else. So I’m the next guy.”

He went on to add that: “I’m going to finish him in the first round.”

“Of course it’s going to be a little bit bigger to beat someone who is pound-for-pound No. 1.”

“It’s going to be bigger than if Yair beats him, and I beat Yair.”

“Because Yair lost a lot of fights with a lot of ranked guys – with Max Holloway, with Frankie Edgar.”

“He lost a lot of fights. I prefer the fight against Alex and to take the win against him.”
