Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was seen as a less experienced manager while Erik ten Hag was seen as one but stats say otherwise.

Ten Hag came with a reputation as a master tactician and has spent £400million, but the United’s fortunes have not improved under the Dutchman.

Comparing the stats of the two managers, Manchester United have lost more games under Erik ten Hag than Solskjaer.

In the Premier League alone, United have suffered 14 defeats under Erik ten Hag than they did under Solskjaer (10).

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became United manager in 2019/20 and saw United lose eight games in his debut season before another 6 loses in his second season.

In the two seasons Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spent at Manchester United, the Norwegian tactician finished third and second in the Premier League, respectively.

He had a poor start to the 2021/22 campaign which saw United lose five times from 12 matches which led to his dismissal at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer was, however, unable to win a trophy as Old Trafford boss, and also he lost the Europa League final in 2021.

Erik ten Hag on the other hand, managed to win the Carabao Cup and led Manchester United to a third-place finish in his debut season.

Just as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did in the Europa League final in 2021/22 season, Ten Hag lost the FA Cup final to City rivals Manchester City.

Seeing the figures Ten Hag started with at United, the fans assumed he was going to be better than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

However, going by the recent stats, the Dutchman has not proven better than the Manchester United legend during his time at the club.

It should be noted that across the two seasons Solskjaer was in charge, he led United to 25 wins in 48 games as opposed to Ten Hag’s 28 wins in 48 matches.

Also, in the same number of games, Solskjaer lost only 10 games and drew 13, while Ten Hag lost 14 and drew 6 games for the club.

In that same number of games, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer-led United scored 89 goals while conceding 60, while with Ten Hag, United scored 69 goals and conceded 59 goals.

Erik ten Hag garned 90 points in that period which is 2 more than the points Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got in the same number of games.

Also, looking at other stats such as possession, passes completed, passing accuracy, Solskjaer is ahead of Ten Hag in 48 matches for United.

Despite Ten Hag having won more points and more matches than the former United coach, it is safe to say that the Norwegian was better off amongst the two.

Ten Hag is more experienced than Solskjaer in terms of professional coaching career, however, the latter achieved more success at United.
