Sebastian Haller has narrated his ordeal in hospital, while thanking his fans and family for support throughout his six months absence.

Sebastian Haller saw his move to Borussia Dortmund stunted after he was diagnosed with a testicular tumor in July, 2022.

The diagnoses came after he joined the club from Ajax. Haller joined the Champions League finalist on a four-year contract for £29million from the Eredivisie champions.

He was required to undergo a chemotherapy treatment and was ruled out of action for months.

Sebastian Haller underwent a successful surgical operation to remove the testical tumor and is set to return to action.

Before returning to full action with Borussia Dortmund, Sebastian Haller has addressed his teeming fans announcing his return, and thanking them for the support throughout his absence.

The Ivory Coast international also revealed he is back at the club’s training center, and is set to make the long-awaited debut for Borussia Dortmund.

The former West Ham Star added it was not that easy, but he is thankful to his supporters and well-wishers for still standing by him.

‘It was not that easy but with your support it was better and easier to do. I’m just looking forward to seeing you in the stadium for some victories”, he said.

Borussia Dortmund opens their Bundesliga campaign after the World Cup break against Augsburg on January 22, giving Haller close to three weeks to recover fully ahead of the game.

Sebastian Haller’s medical condition came as a big blow to Borussia Dortmund, who had signed the player from Ajax as a replacement for Erling Haaland.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt star was one of the deadliest strikers in the Dutch league, scoring 47 goals in 66 appearances for Ajax before joining Borussia Dortmund.

While hoping to replicate his Eredivisie form in the Bundesliga, the sad news of his testical tumor arrived and he needed to undergo surgery to remove it.

That is how the 29-year-old missed out on all action for his new club, an battled for his health and wellbeing to return to full fitness. His family were closely supporting him throughout the ordeal.

‘My wife was in shock, but she could deal with it. But.. my mum.. it wasn’t the same, because mothers are mothers,’ Haller said in an interview with ESPN.

‘I called my brothers and sisters to make sure they will be there for her, so that she wouldn’t feel alone. This is what I have done.’

Narrating his ordeal while undergoing treatment, Sebastian Haller revealed he spent five days at a time at the hospital, where he was hooked up 24/7 and could not get out of bed while the treatment is injected, and that was just a phase in the chemotherapy treatment.

Haller confirmed he underwent four of those treatments, which lasted for three weeks, consigning him to the bed.

He also added he still had to monitor how the cancer treatment is going to determine if to continue with treatment or not.

Except his spell with Ligue 1 side Auxerre, Sebastian Haller has been banging double digit goals for any club he plies his trade. He was yet to make an appearance for Borussia Dortmund before the medical problem.

Borussia Dortmund fans will be hoping to have their star signing back to action come January 22.
