Samuel Eto’o has confirmed that he is doing well a few hours after reports went viral that he was involved in a car accident in Cameroon, his home country.

The 39-year-old former Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Chelsea striker was returning from his younger brother, Oliver Kadji’s wedding on Sunday, November 8, when a bus collided with his 4×4 car between Douala and Bafoussam in Cameroon.

The driver that drove the bus that collided with Samuel Eto’o’s car attempted to run away from the scene of the accident before he was apprehended and taken to the police.

Before Eto’o’s spokesperson Frank Happi confirmed the former captain of the Cameroon national team has been taken to a hospital for medical attention, a video surfaced on Twitter showing Samuel Eto’o sitting on the floor with the bus driver. He was heard telling the driver in French that he should drive carefully next time.

The four-time Africa player of the year has said he would not press charges against the driver not even for his 4×4 car that has been badly damaged due to the accident. Besides the footballer who was unhurt in the accident, it has been confirmed that other commuters came out unhurt.

“On the way back, I had an unfortunate car accident, which almost made me forget my dance moves from the night before. But I want to reassure you, I am doing very well. Thanks are unto the Lord, for getting us out of it miraculously without physical harm.”

Samuel Eto’o played in numerous clubs across the world before he retired from professional football in 2019 at Qatar SC. Before his retirement, he scored over 427 goals for all the clubs he played for.
