Cameroon Football Federation President and former legendary international Samuel Eto’o was caught out in a furious bust-up with the national team manager Marc Brys.

In viral footage shared at the end of this post, a furious Eto’o could be seen angrily challenging Brys.

Close sources reveal the sordid incident occurred after a meeting which happened to be the last time Brys would appear as Cameroon national team manager.

The Belgian was appointed Cameroon national team head coach after Rigobert Song was sacked following the 2023 AFCON deadlock in Cote d’Ivoire.

His appointment as Cameroon national team head coach is said to have been at the heart of the furious bust-up between him and Samuel Eto’o.

Sources close to the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, revealed Brys was appointed as Cameroon national team manager by the Cameroon Sports Ministry.

The Sports Ministry’s decision to appoint Brys as the manager is said to have caused a tear between the Sports Ministry and FECAFOOT.

Members of FECAFOOT reportedly refused to acknowledge Brys as Cameroon national team head while the Sports Ministry gave the latter their full backing.

Meanwhile, Eto’o, who is the president of FECAFOOT, had reportedly ignored calls by FECAFOOT members to sack Brys.

On Tuesday, May 28, FECAFOOT, chaired by Samuel Eto’o, convened a meeting in Cameroon’s capital Yaounde. Eto’o refused to allow a representative of the Sports Ministry to attend the meeting, including Brys and his staff.

The move led to tensions resulting in confrontations and explosive fallouts. A video on social media showed Eto’o in a furious bust-up with the Sports Ministry’s official and then Brys.

Confronting Brys, he said;

“I’m the president of the federation. And you don’t talk to me like that, I was a coach too,’ Eto’o was heard saying.

‘‘As a footballer, you could never talk to me. You sit down and we work.

‘’Stop this s**t, you think I could do that in Belgium, I was a coach.’

Brys responded ‘’Yes, [for] three weeks’ in reference to Eto’o’s five-match spell in charge of Turkish side Antalyaspor.

After the fallout, FECAFOOT confirmed the sack of Brys for ‘‘disrespectful comments’ towards Eto’o and an ‘outright refusal to collaborate.”

Indigenous coach Martin Ndtoungou has been appointed on an interim basis to replace Brys as Cameroon national team head coach.
