Samuel Eto’o, former FC Barcelona striker has reached an agreement with his daughter Erika do Rosario Nieves to pay 90,000 euros to avoid being jailed.
What happened to Samuel Eto’o?
The former Inter Milan striker had a relationship with Erika’s mother Do Rosario during his time as part of Real Madrid football players in the 90s.
Samuel Eto’o met Rosario at a nightclub in Madrid in 1998 and she got pregnant the same year after an affair with the legendary Cameroon frontman, giving birth to Erika in 1999.
Since then Eto’o has neglected child support until the 24-year-old filed a court case against the Cameroon FA President.
Samuel Eto’o was declared to be the father of Erika by a Spanish court in 2022 following the former Real Madrid player’s preliminary refusal to approve her as his daughter.
This happened after Erika’s mother, Adileusa do Rosario, sued Eto’o in 2018.
The 42-year-old was ordered by the magistrate to pay up the arrears of €1,400 per month in child support as her financial status is not credible which he ignored for a long time.
Lawyer Fernando Osuna claims that Erika’s father, Samuel Eto’o, has not paid her monthly allowance for the past five years and that he now owes her about €90,000.
Meanwhile, Erika wanted the former Chelsea superstar in prison and demanded a 21-month jail sentence for the three times UEFA Champions League winner.
The court battle between Samuel Eto’o and his estranged daughter Erika do Rosario Nieves looks to have been settled in court after the two reached an agreement.
It was reported that the former Everton player had agreed with Erika’s lawyers to pay the child support directly to her bank account.
However, prosecutors decided not to follow through with the sentencing because the obstinate ex-Indomitable Lions’ striker swiftly agreed to pay up to escape jail time.
The Barcelona hero has reached the end of the road and will no longer be able to escape his financial obligation, therefore he has chosen to pay up.
Fernando Osuna, Erika’s lawyer took the chance to ask other parents in the same circumstance to not avoid their responsibility and try to reach an agreement with their children because they cannot pay for past mistakes, and the court Justice is very receptive to these issues and children always end up winning these cases.
Who’s Erika?
Erika do Rosario Nieves, was born in 1999 at the Alarcon Foundation Hospital in Madrid due to an affair between the former Cameroon International striker Samuel Eto’o and a woman known as Adileusa do Rosario.
The mother of the 24-year-old lady disclosed that, when the football player knew of her pregnancy, he blamed her for trying to acquire his wealth and allegedly tried to terminate the pregnancy.

Samuel Eto’o Fils is a Cameroonian football administrator and former player who is the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation since 11 December 2021. He was born on the 10th of March, 1981.
In his prime, Eto’o was regarded by football analysis as one of the best strikers in the world, and he is regarded as one of the greatest African players of all time, winning the African Player of the Year in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2010 a record four times.
