Sadio Mane was seen walking with the help of clutches after he was declared unfit to play for Senegal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which is set to kick off on November 20, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.
Mane was seen struggling to walk while dressed in a black hoodie, a white short, two pairs of white sneakers, and clutches.
Recall that Sadio Mane suffered a tear on his right fibula during a match against Werder Bremen, which his team, Bayern Munich, won 6-1 on November 8, 2022. In the 20th minute of the match, Mane was substituted for Leroy Sane.
Bayern Munich had revealed that Sadio Mane had undergone successful knee surgery in Austria on November 17, 2022.
The surgery were done by doctors from London, whose identities are Prof. Christian Fink and Dr. Andy Williams. In a few days, Mane will travel to Germany to start his rehab.
How the injury forced Sadio Mane out of the World Cup
He initially made the Senegal 26-man list for the World Cup after the Senegal FA believed they could use a witch’s power to cure him and get the player ready for the tournament.
It was recently stated that the manager does not see Mane recovering from his injury after a series of training sessions.
The Senegal Football Federation revealed after a further scan that Mane needs surgery. The team decided to release its two-time African Player of the Year.
Senegal believes it can qualify for the knockout stage of the World Cup without Mane.
The Bayern Munich winger will not be present to cheer up the team as he recovers from injury. In addition, there is no projected date for when he is going to return to on-field action.
Senegal World Cup Schedule
Senegal faces the Netherlands in their first match of the World Cup on November 21, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. at Al Thumama Stadium.
Senegal will play Qatar at Al Thumama Stadium on November 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. The final group stage match is against Ecaudor on November 29, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at Khalifa International Stadium.
What Are Senegal’s Chances Of Making It To The World Cup Knockout Round?
In Group A of the World Cup, there are only two teams capable of defeating Senegal: the Netherlands and Ecuador.
Senegal are capable of defeating Qatar, but they need to be at their best to get a point against Ecuador to fancy their chances of qualifying for the knockout stage.
With Sadio Mane out, other players must rise to the occasion and demonstrate their worth as African Champions.
Kalidou Koulibaly and Eduardo Mendy should be at their best to avoid shots from going into the net. This is not the country’s first World Cup and the last time they qualified was in 2002 where the team reached the quarter finals.
