America defeated Sweden in the 2019 edition of the tournament by 2-0 but the 2003 World Cup runners-up were determined not to lose in the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
Following 120 minutes of intense and grueling action, the game had to be settled via penalties.
Peter Gerhardsson’s side appeared to be more calmer and had better composure in the shoot-out and they ultimately defeated the 4-time Champions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
