Ronaldinho Gaucho has given a damning verdict over the current state of the national team of Brazil.
Ronaldinho was brutal in his assessment of Dorival Júnior’s side, expressing that they lack “everything”.
The 44-year-old stated that Brazil lacks determination and joy, and they are basically not playing well.
The icon also shared that he will not be watching any game in the Copa America due to Brazil’s underwhelming state.
Ronaldinho made this assertion via a post on his Instagram account, where he wrote:
“I’m not going to watch any of the games, everything is missing, determination, joy, not playing well. I’m not even going to watch one game at the Copa America!”
The 2005 Ballon d’Or winner also added
“That’s it guys, that’s it for me. This is a sad moment for those who love Brazilian football. It’s difficult to find the energy to watch the games.
“This is perhaps one of the worst teams in recent years, it has no respectable leaders, just average players for the most part.”
Ronaldinho helped Brazil to win the FIFA World Cup in 2002 alongside the Copa America in 1999.
The former Barcelona man also assisted the Selecao to win the 2005 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Brazil Team “one of the worst in recent years” – Ronaldinho Says
Ronaldinho Gaucho also branded the current Brazilian setup “one of the worst teams in recent years”.
“That’s it guys, that’s it for me. This is a sad moment for those who love Brazilian football. It’s difficult to find the energy to watch the games.
“This is perhaps one of the worst teams in recent years, it has no respectable leaders, just average players for the most part.
“I’ve been following football since I was a child, long before I thought about becoming a player, and I’ve never seen a situation as bad as this.”
The ex-AC Milan attacker could be said to be echoing the sentiments of many fans across the globe, with many in recent years also expressing that Brazil has experienced a significant drop in football.
In recent years, they have only managed to win the Copa America and FIFA Confederations Cup, a noticeable drop in their dominant level.
It could also be argued that there are only 1 or 2 standout names in this current Brazilian squad, possibly Vinicius Jr and Liverpool’s Alisson Becker.
In previous years, the Selecao paraded a star-studded bunch that their names would naturally send jitters to opposition players.
Anyway, they are one of the favorites to win the 2024 Copa America and they will be looking to prove doubters wrong in the United States Of America.
Star attacker Vinicius Jr is one of the favorites for the Ballon d’Or and he will be hoping to assist Dorival Júnior’s side in achieving continental glory which will boost his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or.

Meanwhile, in a subsequent post on Instagram, Ronaldinho expressed that his comments were basically him expressing the feelings of the fans as he would never abandon Brazilian football.
He shared that the support of the fans is often a big difference for the players and that’s what they need this time.
The 44-year-old also made it known that his comments were part of a move to canvas for the support of the fans for the national team of Brazil.
He said: “I would never abandon Brazilian football, ever. And I would never say those things you saw… In fact, these words came from real Brazilian fans, they are real comments I saw on the internet…
“Imagine hearing these messages before playing? It’s not possible, motivation goes down… The support of the fans makes a huge difference for the player, I know what I’m saying. Guys, what our boys need is support at this time. The more confidence we show, the more confidence they will have on the field.”
Before Ronaldinho made this statements to clarify his earlier comments, Raphinha had fired back at the legendary footballer claiming that he was requesting for Brazil match tickets from Vinicius a few days ago.
The 27-year-old said: “Ronaldinho said he will not watch the Brazil nation team? A few days ago, he was asking Vinicius Jr. for Brazil match tickets.
“In any case, I was surprised and I don’t agree with his statement of not seeing determination or desire!”
