European and Spanish champions Real Madrid are ready to give their midfielder Rodrygo a new big-money wage increase as they prepare to extend his contract with them this summer.
The Brazilian played an integral role for the Real Madrid team last season as he helped them to win both the Spanish La Liga and UEFA Champions League. The 21-year-old scored two last-minute goals in the semi-final second-leg game against Manchester City to send the game into extra time and rescue them from elimination.
Karim Benzema later scored another goal to make sure they are safe but it was Rodrygo’s brace that gave Madrid the belief that they could turn things around. Hence, Real Madrid are set to reward him with a new contract.
The Blancos are prepared to offer Rodrygo new terms that would keep him at the club for an additional three seasons, with a new six-year deal through 2028 in the works.
His current contract is set to expire in 2025.
Additionally, he is expected to see a significant pay raise that will move him into Madrid’s mid-tier of highest-paid players. Even though he will trail some of their better stars, it shows the club’s long-term commitment to and belief in Rodrygo’s abilities.

Rodrygo is not the only talented player to receive new terms in the capital this summer, with Eder Militao also set to receive a sizable pay increase in his new contract. It will be a sign of confidence for the Brazilian defender, who was one of the more unsung heroes of his team’s return to silverware last season.
Militao made sure that the defense area was in order for the Real Madrid team last season.
However, there was no new contract for veteran Wales international Gareth Bale and he has joined LAFC in the MLS in what will be a midseason transition for the California team.
Gareth Bale has had a limited amount of game time under the new manager Carlos Ancelotti and believes that a move away from Real Madrid will be the best option for both parties.
The Wales international received interest from both Cardiff and Getafe but he decided to join LAFC. Bale is expected to be the main player for Wales national team when they travel to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in November.
Real Madrid have also renewed the contract of Vinicius Jr with a $1 billion release clause. Vinicius formed a massive pair with France international Karim Benzema last season as they led Real Madrid to win the Champions League and La Liga.
