Despite being down to ten men after Corentin Tolisso was dismissed in the 76th minute, Bayern finished the game comfortably.

The win takes them to second on the log, having suffered a heavy defeat by Hoffenheim in their last league game.

Bayern shares the same points with third-placed Borussia Dortmund, who snatched a late 1-0 win at Hoffenheim. In-form striker, Erling Haaland was a provider this time around to get the maximum point for the BVB.

The Norwegian, who was a second-half substitute alongside Marco Reus to produce the creativity the game had been lacking. The 20-year-old ran through on the break to set up Reus to score with a tap-in to secure Dortmund’s first away victory over Hoffenheim in eight years.

Lewnadowski on the ascendency again

After emerging the UEFA player of the year award courtesy of a successful 2019/20 that saw Bayern Munich win a treble, Lewandowski is not looking tired.

The Polish lad looks hungry for more. He has made that known on the pitch this season, hitting the ground running.

Lewandowski is in red hot form

Lewandowski has scored seven goals in just four Bundesliga games of the 2020/21 season. He had scored in eight of his last nine league appearances as well.

With 40 goals scored last season, it looking like Lewandowski could score more than that barring any injury.

Bayern Munich to begin UEFA Champions League defense

Next on the defending champions’ schedule is a clash with Atletico Madrid in their opening Champions League group game on Wednesday.

After defeating Paris Saint-Germaine in last year’s final to complete their treble, Bayern won the UEFA Super Cup in extra time against Sevilla to begin their season on a good note.

They further went ahead to clinch the German Suuper Cup at the expense of closest local rivals, Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern is on a roll now. The tie against Athletico, who recently returned to winning ways against Celta Vigo in their last outing is expected to be a mouth-watering affair.
