Rio Ferdinand has shared a heartfelt anniversary tribute to his wife, but fans couldn’t help but laugh at a social media blunder he made in the process.
The football legend is celebrating four years of marriage with Kate, and despite his genuine intentions, he received some light-hearted criticism for a mistake.
The 44-year-old posted a loving message to his 5.8 million Instagram followers, expressing his admiration for his bride and their relationship.
The star’s heartfelt tribute was unfortunately overshadowed by fans joking about his poorly timed mistake.
Many fans took to the comments section to tease the TNT Sports presenter about his error.
The former Manchester United star shared three photos of the couple alongside the caption “Happy anniversary to my stunning wife x I love you more.”
The first photo depicted them on their wedding day at a lavish five-star hotel in Turkey in 2019.
Surrounded by loved ones, Ferdinand’s stunning wife Kate, who is a former TOWIE star, appeared elated as she danced with her husband.
In the third photo, the couple were captioned sharing a passionate kiss on the dance floor, with someone watching on.
However, despite the romantic atmosphere, a small mistake can be spotted in the second photo.
Kate is pictured wearing a stunning cut-out bikini, standing next to her husband with the sea in the background.
However, upon closer inspection, Rio’s head is missing from the photo, as it has been cropped out from the chin up.
Eagle-eye fans quickly noticed this editing mistake and began teasing the football pundit about his own mistake.
The post has already garnered over 332 comments despite being uploaded on September 27, with fans relentlessly poking fun at the father-of-three.
One of the fans wrote: “Rio you’ve no head in the second photo.”
While a second added: “Nice cropping.”
Another fan commented that he should try and edit the photo, saying: “Try the crop on that second pic again.”
One wrote: “That second photo is funny. Where’s ya head man?” with another adding: “Bro im still looking for you in second photo.”
And a fourth joked: “Look great in second picture pal.”
Ferdinand eventually defended himself in the comments, placing the blame for the blunder on Instagram.
He wrote: “Dunno why insta cropped me out the 2nd pic man…the hat maybe!!!”
Even though his anniversary tribute was trolled by hilarious comments from his fans, there is no doubt that the fans’ remarks made the couple’s day more adorable.
