Premier League pundit and Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has predicted the possible outcome of Arsenal’s Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Bayern Munich.

Arsenal drew 2-2 at home in the first leg in England and will travel to Germany for the second leg on Wednesday, April 17.

The Gunners have been eliminated three times in the knockout by Bayern Munich and have struggled against German opponents in UEFA club competitions.

At the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners played in a half-filled stadium with no Bayern Munich fans on the stands due to European sanctions.

At Allianz Arena, the Bundesliga giants will be backed by a seething cauldron of home fans, who will return to the stadium for the return leg.

Based on permutations, Arsenal will face a huge task weathering the odds to defeat Bayern Munich in Germany with the home fans set to return to the stands.

Premier League pundit and Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has buttressed a similar analysis in his prediction.

Speaking ahead of the match, Ferdinand said Bayern Munich, backed by home fans, and a deeper European experience, are favorites to win the tie.

“I think it’s advantage Bayern Munich.

“Bayern are at home and have all that experience in Europe.

“Arsenal could win but it’s advantage Bayern for me.”

He, however, added Arsenal can still pull an upset at Allianz Arena but the odds favor the Bundesliga giants.

Arsenal will go into the game against the backdrop of a shocking home defeat in the Premier League to Aston Villa – a loss that saw the Gunners stumble on the Premier League title race.

Conversely, Bayern Munich, who lost the Bundesliga title race for the first time in 11 years to Bayer Leverkusen, defeated Cologne in their last domestic fixture.

While the odds favor the Bavarians in the anticipated Champions League cracker with Arsenal, Futballnews understands the Bundesliga giants will be without some of their key players.

Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, and Alphonso Davies headline the list of the club’s major absentees ahead of the match.
