While players like Batshuayi, and Alonso are getting ready to make their exit from the Blues due to lack of playing time, one youngster is getting ready to sign on for a new long term contract.

Chelsea is reportedly set to sign a new long term contract to 20 year old Reece James. The young Blue has impressed manager Frank Lampard and has stepped up tremendously. James’ current deal at the club at the Blues does not expire until the summer of 2022 but he is now expected to be tied down to a five-year contract.

The right back has made 17 appearances for Chelsea this season, in which he has scored two goals and provided two assists. James spent last season on loan in the Championship with Wigan where he played in all but one league match.

In recent months the Blues have made securing the next generation a priority and have handed new deals to Fikayo Tomori, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billy Gilmour.
