Chelsea midfielder Reece James surprised fans and fashion enthusiasts alike when he strutted down the runway for Los Angeles-based luxury brand Nahmias at their 2025 Menswear event.

The event, which had an American high school theme, saw James playfully embracing the role of a janitor.

Dressed in janitor attire complete with a mop and bucket, the Chelsea star confidently walked the runway, showcasing Nahmias’ latest designs to an intrigued audience.

James, known for his exceptional skills on the football field, proved he can also hold his own in the world of high fashion.

However, football fans have mocked the 24-year-old for his recent appearance where he appeared to be mopping floors while other footballers are doing wonderfully well in their profession.

One wrote on X: ”Reece James mopping floors while Trent Alexander Arnold is wearing No.8 for England at the Euros….”

One fan commented on Instagram, saying: ” what kinda of side quest is this”

Another taunted him for his injury crises saying: “he might slip and fall, probably missing the whole of next season through injury.”

Despite the criticisms, Nahmias’ decision to feature a sports star like Reece James in their show will help bridge the worlds of sports and fashion.

The collaboration between the football star and the luxury brand was a success, leaving attendees impressed and eager to see what other surprises Nahmias has in store for the future.

Reece James injury issues

The Chelsea captain, Reece James, was sidelined for most of the 2023-2024 season due to a hamstring injury he suffered in December.

After undergoing surgery, he spent over four months recovering before making his return to play in the final weeks of the season.

His injury limited him to just 10 Premier League appearances under former manager Mauricio Pochettino and 11 in all competitions.

Unfortunately, his injury woes also led to his exclusion from Gareth Southgate’s upcoming Euro tournament squad.

Additionally, James received two red cards during the season for avoidable incidents against Newcastle and Brighton, resulting in his suspension for the last game against Bournemouth and the first three matches of the next season.

Chelsea’s attempt to appeal his suspension was unsuccessful as the FA rejected their explanation.

What’s next?

James is set to make his return across the Atlantic as Chelsea participate in their pre-season tour of the United States.

The 24-year-old will be leading the Blues in friendly matches against Wrexham, Celtic, Club America, Real Madrid, and Manchester City in all six fixtures happening stateside.
