Reports have revealed that Inter Miami owner David Beckham has been in talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to negotiate a deal to bring James Rodriguez to his MLS club. Prior reports revealed that Real Madrid bosses are planning to sell the Columbian international player in the next transfer window to prevent him from exiting the club on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old attacker was linked with a transfer to Manchester United after he joined the Los Blancos team again after his loan spell with Bayern Munich expired. New reports, however, suggest that the ace attacker might be making his next transfer to play in David Beckham owned MLS club.
David Beckham has reportedly contacted Real Madrid’s boss to explore the possibility of getting James Rodriguez’s signature for Inter Miami. Both Beckham and Perez are reported to have a solid bilateral relationship which might be a push to facilitate the deal. Moreso, Rodriguez’s career in Madrid has experienced a little set back since he was sent out on loan to Bayern Munich for two years.
His return into the Zinedine Zidane team at the beginning of 2019/2020 season was not a welcomed approval for him to make the starting eleven. The Columbian star player seems to have lost his place in Zidane’s team after being dropped in several important matches for the Los Blancos this season before football was interrupted by Covid-19.
However, David Beckham who owns a major franchise in the MLS club side Inter Miami seems to see something different in the Columbian player. Despite his struggle to impress at Santiago Bernabeu, Beckham believes he is a great player that could launch his MLS team a greater height.
There is no doubt that getting the signature of a player like James Rodriguez who is still at his peak will be a big-ticket for Inter Miami and the league at large. The level of commercialization will be increased if the deal is sealed.
Meanwhile, there has been an existing argument on whether the MLS league can match up to become great like leagues in Europe. The likes of David Beckham are working tirelessly to ensure that the MLS League becomes great. The former Manchester United player is using all his links, sporting knowledge and all to get the signature of big players whose presence can help increase commercialization.
What is, however, worthy to know is that James Rodriguez will be shackled up in the island of dilemma following the deal talks. He has been a great prospect for top Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Everton, and others. Reasonably, he might not be willing to give up on Europe where can play and be seen by more audiences being at the peak of his career.
