Real Madrid have suffered yet another injury blow as Vinicius Jr. is set to be sidelined until after the new year.

Vinicius Jr. of Real Madrid has been ruled out for the rest of the year after picking up a hamstring injury while playing for Brazil.

The 23-year-old was subbed off during his nation’s 2-1 defeat against Colombia on Thursday, November 16, and it was earlier reported that he could return to action within a month.

However, the Spanish powerhouse have declared that Vinicius Jr. suffered a tear that has affected the tendons in his left hamstring.

Real Madrid took to their social media page and released a statement concerning the player’s injury, the club wrote; “following tests carried out today (Saturday, November 18), on our player Vinicius Jr. by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a tear in his left femoral bicep which is affecting the tendon in his hamstring. His recovery will be monitored”.

According to the club journalist, Arancha Rodriguez who stated that the 23-year-old is thought to miss the next two and a half months of play, as Real Madrid did not give a timeframe for the player’s return.

This means that Vinicius Jr could be out of action until next year, which could be a big blow for the 14-time European champions.

Vinicius Jr may be sidelined for the first leg of their round of 16 games that will be played in February 2023, following the Spanish giant qualifications for the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League.

The Brazilian forward has joined the host of Real Madrid players who have been suffering from injury crisis.

Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, and Aurelien Tchouameni are all out with injuries.

Bellingham is presently suffering from a shoulder issue that ruled him out of international duty with England, although his injury is not predicted to be a long-term problem.

But Tchouameni and Camavinga are nursing more serious issues. Tchouameni is required to spend another six weeks away from the pitch, while Camavinga underwent a knee ligament injury after linking up with France and will not play again until January next year.
