Real Madrid Sign Champions League-winning Striker Joselu, After Triggering His Buy-out Clause

Joselu has become a player of Real Madrid after the Spanish giants triggered the purchase option to sign the striker.

The acquisition of the 34-year-old by Los Blancos was revealed by his now-former club Espanyol, in a statement which reads:

“Real Madrid has informed RCD Espanyol that it is executing the purchase clause for Joselu Mato, included in the agreement reached a year ago between the two clubs.”

Espanyol added that as such, “Joselu is no longer a white-and-blue player” and they wished him all the best for the future.

The La Liga side wrote: “Therefore, Joselu is no longer a white-and-blue player. RCD Espanyol wishes him luck in his new professional adventure.”

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Real Madrid are set to sell Joselu Mato to Qatari club, Al-Gharafa.

Joselu joined the Santiago Bernabeu side on loan from Espanyol in the summer of 2023, after they were relegated from the top-flight league in Spain.

Joselu Mato’s release clause is €1.5 million and it has been activated by Real Madrid, with the Spaniard now a bonafide player of the La Liga champions.
