Wolverhampton Wanderers need a replacement for their injured striker Raul Jimenez who has been out of football for over three weeks.
The 29-year-old Mexican center-forward got injured during a Premier League match between Wolves and Arsenal on November 29, 2020. He and Arsenal’s defender David Luiz collided in the first half of the match which ended 2-1 in favor of Wolves at the Emirates Stadium.
It was so bad that Raul Jimenez had to be taken to the hospital from the stadium and underwent surgery to treat a fractured skull. Since then, the striker has only made one public appearance after the surgery when he visited the training camp of Wolves.
Wolves enjoyed 4 victories, one draw, and a defeat in their last 6 Premier League games before they defeated Arsenal 2-1 on the day Raul Jimenez sustained the concussion injury.
After the victory over Arsenal and Jimenez’s injury, Wolves have suffered three defeats in their last four Premier League games and managed to win just a league match against Chelsea on December 15. The match ended 2-1.
Ahead of the Wolves vs Tottenham Premier League match which is scheduled for today, December 27, at 20:15, the coach of Wolves, Nuno Espirito Santo believes that the club is missing the impact of Raul Jimenez and that the club can not compare how important the striker has been with the talisman of other clubs.
“I will not compare it, but I would say the absence of Raul is very important to us,” Nuno said.
“We feel it and we felt it since the moment it happened. It is a huge blow because it is not only what he does on the pitch, but what he means for the squad.
“The confidence that the players have in him, the belief that until the last minute that he is going to put it inside (the goal).
“I will not compare to other teams, but I will admit that for us his absence is terrible.”
