Rappers Drake and J. Cole has recreated the iconic image of football’s greatest players Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi playing chess together which was captured by Louis Vuitton.
Drake and J.Cole recreated the picture as both of them competed against each other through chess, table tennis, and basketball in the new music video for First Person Shooter.
The mixed-race hip-hop artists reproduced a well-known image of footballers Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo playing chess that was taken by Annie Leibovitz in 2022 as a part of their sponsored partnership with Louis Vuitton.
Drake has been constantly releasing songs and videos from his new, chart-topping album “For All the Dogs,” and the duo is also set to embark on a North American tour early next year.
The chess scene appears in the video for the pair’s latest release, “First Person Shooter,” in which Drake and J. Cole engaged in a running head-to-head duel over a variety of games and activities such as table tennis and basketball, and it is filled of references to internet memes and cultural moments.
Drake adopts Messi’s attitude in the chess scene, deep in thought with his palm on his chin, as J. Cole delivers one of his songs while sitting in Ronaldo’s place.
Since then, the posts by Ronaldo (42.7 million), Messi (32.8 million), and Louis Vuitton (8.3 million) have accumulated a total of 83.8 million likes.
It’s no surprise that Ronaldo’s photo garnered the most likes; the Portugal captain is the most-followed person on Instagram, with 612 million followers.
