Bayern Munich have been dealt another blow in their pursuit of a new manager as prime target Ralf Rangnick has reportedly turned down an offer to become the club’s new manager.
The Bavarians have been on the hunt for a new manager after they announced their decision to end their collaboration with the current manager Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.
Former manager Julians Nagelsmann was targeted by the Bundesliga giants but they suffered a setback as the 39-year-old decided to pen down a new contract with Germany’s national team till the 2026 World Cup
Bundesliga-winning Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, was also a prime target but the former player-turned-manager opted to continue with Bayer Leverkusen next season.
Ralf Rangnick was on the list of shortlisted candidates to take over the dugout at Anfield and talks with the 65-year-old was on the fast lane after Julian Nagelsmann and Xabi Alonso deadlock.
Against previous reports that the Bavarians were closing in on bringing Ralf Rangnick to the club as new manager, it has now been confirmed the former Manchester United caretaker manager has declined the offer.
In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Rangnick’s statement declining the offer reads;
“I’m the Austrian team coach with all my heart.
“I really enjoy this task and am determined to successfully continue on our chosen path.
“I would like to expressly emphasise that this is not a rejection of Bayern, but rather a decision for my team and our common goals. Our full concentration is on the Euros. We will do everything we can to get as far as possible.”
As per close sources, Bayern Munich have made a swift move to scour for a another option following Rangnick’s setback. Since they announced their decision to part ways with Thomas Tuchel, they have now been turned down by three targets – Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and now Ralf Rangnick.
