Cristiano Ronaldo may stay, but Edinson Cavani is leaving United, Anthony Martial may leave, and Marcus Rashford is pondering his options.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 24th club goal of the season in United’s 3-0 win over Brentford, surpassing his previous best of 20 goals in the 2006-07 season. In front of a camera on the pitch at full-time, the 37-year-old appeared to suggest he wasn’t ‘done’ at United.

“ We need at least two to give team more quality,” Rangnick said. “Modern strikers.

“Liverpool and Man City have five or six. Is Grealish a winger or striker? They are all strikers.

“We don’t have many. Mason Greenwood would have been but after West Ham he wasn’t part of the squad.”

Rangnick o why Manchester United needs to sign a Modern Striker.

Rangnick has previously stated that United will want two strikers next season to compensate for the loss of Edinson Cavani, while Anthony Martial may be transferred and Marcus Rashford is pondering his options.

Mason Greenwood is out indefinitely Manchester United, and Rangnick has mentioned his absence several times in his evaluation of the team’s problems this season.

Ralf Rangnick referenced Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Jack Grealish, a creator who generally works from the left while describing the type of striker United required.

“It’s evident to me that Manchester United needs two more excellent strikers,” Rangnick said. “It just gives this squad more alternatives, more quality, and more weapons.”

“Strikers,” Rangnick replied when asked what he meant exactly. Modern strikers aren’t required to be wingers. When you look at Liverpool or Manchester City’s strikers, you’ll notice that they have five or six world-class strikers.

“Until four or five weeks ago, Gabriel Jesus seldom played. Now he’s playing regularly again, and if you ask me if Gabriel Jesus is a central striker or a winger, or if Grealish is a central striker or a winger, I’ll tell you that they’re all strikers who can play in different positions, switch, and rotate.

“We don’t have that many guys of that caliber.” Mason Greenwood would have been one of the players who would have played on a regular basis, but he was cut from the squad following the West Ham game.

“We didn’t have many options upfront since Martial was on loan at Sevilla and Edinson Cavani was injured much of the time.”
