After returning to Paris Saint Germain from PSV Eindhoven, it was uncertain where Xavi Simons will spend the 2023/24 season but there is clarity now as he will be sent on loan to RB Leipzig.

PSG re-signed Simons from PSV following an impressive season with the Eindhoven based club.

Following the confirmation of his arrival, it was said that his fate at remaining in Paris this summer hangs on the future of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr.

Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano revealed that if one or both players leave, Simons will stay at Paris Saint Germain.

However, If Mbappe and Neymar remain at the Parc Des Princes, the 20-year-old will be sent on loan.

Xavi Simons, who returned to the French capital after one season with PSV Eindhoven, scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 appearances last term.

There was a buyback clause inserted in his deal to the Netherland side which enabled Paris Saint Germain to sign Xavi Simons for a meager amount.

After a remarkable spell in Eindhoven, where he helped Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s side win the KNVB Cup and the Dutch Super Cup, the Parisians thought it was the perfect time to re-sign the Netherland International.

Xavi Simons won the top scorer award for the 2022/23 season, sharing the gong with FC Utrecht’s Anastasios Douivakas, who also netted 19 goals in the league.

Simons becomes the 8th arrival for RB Leipzig this summer, who have also signed Lois Openda, Christoph Baumgartner, Benjamin Sesko, Nicolas Seiwald, El Chadaille Bitshiabu, Leopold Zingerle, and Fábio Carvalho in this transfer window.
