Multiple sources reported that the contract had an option to extend it for another year but according to Marca, PSG intends to offer Messi a 2-year deal. The proposed contract is expected to keep him at PSG until 2024.

The club has reportedly told the Argentinian international about the proposed deal ahead of the expiration of his current deal.

However, no official offer has been submitted yet and it’s understood that Lionel Messi wants to focus on the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar before reacting to the new deal.

The Argentinian legend is more concerned about his team’s success in the upcoming World Cup. He wants to lead his country to victory in Qatar.

After a difficult first season in French Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain, the club still believes that Messi will improve from next season.

The Argentinian hitman failed to play more than 10 games in a row last season as he battled with COVID-19 and injury at his new club.

Despite all the excitement surrounding his arrival in France, Lionel Messi only managed to score six goals and hand out 14 assists, which is far less than his normal performance.

But now that he’s had time to adjust, the French giants believe he can eventually guide them to Champions League success in the coming year.

While PSG intends to keep Messi because of what he provides on the field, they are also mindful of his influence off the field.

Since Lionel Messi joined PSG in August 2022, the 35-year-old Argentine forward has reportedly generated up to £600 million in revenue, in addition to 10 brand-new endorsement deals. Additionally, 60% of PSG shirts sold last season included Messi’s name and No. 30 on the back.

The Argentine footballer is expected to continue his partnership with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr next season. Although PSG now has a new manager, the three players are still very much available to play under him.

Meanwhile, Ja Morant called out Lionel Messi yesterday, asking to face him in a soccer game.

The famous basketball player said that someone should set the challenge up but he will play as a goalkeeper against Messi. He also went ahead to acknowledge that Lionel Messi is one of the best players in the world of football as he wished him more success ahead of the coming season.
