PSG Secure Veteran Defender, Willian Pacho from Eintracht Frankfurt in €45m Deal

Paris Saint-Germain have signed Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Willian Pacho according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Earlier reports indicated that the French champions were in discussions with the Ecuadorean defender over personal terms.

However, PSG have since ramped up their efforts to secure a deal, with both clubs reaching an agreement on a fee for the player’s services.

Well-known Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed in the early hours of Wednesday, August 7, using his signature phrase ‘Here we go, confirmed’ to indicate that the deal has been finalized.

Fabrizio Romano wrote on his X, formerly Twitter: “William Pacho, set to fly to Paris later tonight!”

It is believed that Luis Campos and Markus Krösche are clarifying the final details of the deal, and Pacho is expected to travel to France to undergo a medical on Thursday, August 8.”

Romano added: “If all goes to plan, he will be in France today in order to undergo medical tests on Thursday.”

“€40m plus €5m add-ons deal sealed two days ago with Eintracht. Here we go, confirmed.”

As mentioned in the report, PSG will pay an initial fee of €40 million with €5 million add-ons for the 22-year-old player, who will sign a long-term contract with the French club.

In his short time at Frankfurt, Pacho has made 44 appearances, achieving eleven clean sheets and providing two assists along the way.

Who is Willian Pacho?

Willian Pacho is an Ecuadorian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain F. C. and the Ecuador national team.

Originally from Quinindé in Ecuador, Pacho made the move to Quito in 2019 to join Independiente del Valle, where he played a key role in the club’s success over the next three years.

His talent did not go unnoticed, as he was scouted by Belgian teams and ultimately signed with Royal Antwerp in January 2022.

After a successful stint in Belgium, Pacho made headlines once again when he signed a five-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt on 30 March 2023.

His international career

Pacho’s talent has also been recognized on the international stage, as he was included in Ecuador’s senior squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

While he did not play during the tournament, he made his debut for the national team on 28 March 2023 in a friendly against Australia, where he scored his first international goal in a 2-1 victory.

The Ecuadorian player has a list of achievements under his belt that includes winning the Ecuadorian Serie A in 2021 with Independiente del Valle and the U-20 Copa Libertadores in 2020.

In the 2022-23 season, William played a key role in helping Royal Antwerp secure the Belgian Pro League title as well as the Belgian Cup.

William Pacho will be flying to Paris later tonight for medical tests scheduled for Thursday.

Following that, the 22-year-old will be unveiled as new PSG signing.
