French Ligue 1 juggernauts PSG have reached an agreement to sign prolific Nigerian striker and Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen, who was crowned 2023 CAF Footballer of the Year following his standout outing with Napoli, emerged as a top target for the Ligue 1 giants as the club prepare to bid farewell to exit-bound Kylian Mbappe.
Futballnews understands Napoli were ready to let the 2022/23 Serie A Golden Boot winner off the hook, hence the move to have him sign a one-year contract extension with a new release clause of €130m.
A quote from trusted Italian outlet, Area Napoli, shared by Businessday, confirmed Osimhen will leave Napoli at the end of the season with his release clause set to be paid.
“Victor Osimhen and Napoli will part ways at the end of the current season, with the player set to be sold upon payment of the €130 million release clause,” as quoted by Area Napoli.
A report from journalist Mattino reveals PSG have reached an agreement with the Nigerian forward and are into the final details of the contract.
While terms of agreement on contract offer, salary, and other key details has been reportedly finalized, talks are still said to be ongoing between the club and Victor Osimhen’s representatives to iron out other details for a smooth switch in the summer.
The report adds Victor Osimhen has been handed a four-year contract worth €13m every year. He has also been handed an exclusive right to control his image rights.
Osimhen was also linked to the Premier League with Chelsea said to be interested in the striker. However, it is less likely the Nigerian sensation will move to the Premier League with a late hijack considered impossible.
