A Premier League star who was arrested over a child sex abuse won’t face further action as per reports.
The star who is not permitted to be named by law is a former Everton star and was arrested earlier in 2020 by the police but was later released on bail.
In February, it was confirmed that the Crown Procecution Service were probing the player and was not certain if they were going to charge the International star,.
The Police revealed on Friday that no further action would be taken after the supposed case was dropped.
Greater Manchester Police spokesman told journalist that; “The investigation team and Crown Prosecution Service have been working together and reached the decision that the evidence available at this time does not reach the threshold set out on the Code for Crown Prosecutors.”
“Greater Manchester Police is committed to investigating allegations to secure the best possible outcomes for all involved and will continue to work with partner agencies to ensure individuals are supported throughout investigations and beyond.”
Police turned up at the players’ house in July 2021 and seized “several items” belonging to the footballer.
Everton released a statement in that regard saying; “Everton can confirm it has suspended a player pending a police investigation.”
“The Club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time.”
The offense meted on the player was described as “very serious” with a probe that was led by the Major of Manchester Police’s Incident Team.
The supposed player is a married man and before being released on bail, which was extended around 12 months ago, Magistrates approved an application for the extension, which was to last up until July 2022.
