The nominees for the Premier League Player of the Month award for August 2024 have been revealed and it include several of the league’s top stars.
The Premier League disclosed the nominees for the monthly prize on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Nominees For The Premier League Player of the Month Award For August 2024
Manchester City’s Erling Haaland was shortlisted alongside Bryan Mbuemo of Brentford and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.
Arsenal duo of David Raya and Bukayo Saka were also nominated alongside Amadou Onana of Aston Villa and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.
Haaland was stellar for the Cityzens in August 2024, netting 7 goals in 3 league matches, with the Norwegian bagging hat-tricks in 2 consecutive league games.
Mbuemo was also impressive in attack for Thomas Frank’s side, scoring 3 goals in 3 matches.
Cole Palmer was a shining light for Chelsea despite their underwhelming showing in August 2024.
The England international has produced a staggering 4 assists in 3 Premier League matches.
David Raya recorded 2 clean sheets in Arsenal’s first 3 matches of the 2024/25 Premier League season, while Bukayo Saka had 3 goal contributions for the Gunners in their 3 games thus far, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists.
Amadou Onana delineated brilliance in the middle of the park for Aston Villa, whilst also scoring 2 goals in 3 matches.
Mohamed Salah looks to be aging like fine wine, and he was on the score sheet for the Reds in all their first 3 league games this term while also producing 3 assists.
Nominees For The Premier League Manager of the Month Award For August 2024
The nominees for the Manager of the Month award for August 2024 were also released.
Brighton’s Fabian Hürzeler, 31, was nominated, with the youngest manager in the Premier League still unbeaten after 3 matches.
Hürzeler’s side have faced top teams this season, including Manchester United and Arsenal, but they remain without a defeat thus far.
Fabian Hürzeler’s side defeated Everton to start the season, before shockingly beating the Red Devils at the Amex Stadium.
They also played out a 1-1 draw with Arsenal, before the international break in September 2024.
Arne Slot was also shortlisted, having led his Liverpool side to 3 wins in his first 3 Premier League matches.
The Dutchman has commenced his spell in England on a good note, with his Reds being the only side yet to concede this season.
Pep Guardiola was also recognized with a place on the shortlist, as the Spaniard guided Manchester City to a breathtaking start to the season.
The Cityzens appear to be in top gear and look eager to clinch the Premier League title for the 5th consecutive season.
Manchester City have won all 3 of their league matches thus far this campaign, and they sit at the summit of the log.
Spanish tactician Mikel Arteta was also nominated, with Arsenal also undefeated after 3 league matches.
They won their first 2 league matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa, before sharing the spoils with the Seagulls.
Nominees For The Goal of the Month Award For August 2024
Meanwhile, the nominees for the Goal of the Month award were also shared, and they are Mateo Kovacic’s stunner against Chelsea (Matchday 1), Yves Bissouma’s breathtaking goal against Everton (Matchday 2), and Jarrod Bowen’s smashing strike against Crystal Palace (Matchday 3).
Cole Palmer’s chipped effort against Wolves (Matchday 2) was shortlisted, while Luis Diaz’s solo goal (Matchday 2) following a nice combination with Jota was also nominated.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s scorching goal against Nottingham Forest (Matchday 3) was recognized and Liam Delap’s astonishing finish against Fulham (Matchday 3) for Ipswich Town’s first Premier League goal in 22 years was also shortlisted.
Finally, Yukinari Sugawara’s brilliant outside-of-the-foot strike against Brentford (Matchday 3) was nominated.
