    The Premier League board nominated eight players for the Premier League player of the season and Futballnews decided to name the probable winner based on stats.

    Note that the 2021-2022 Premier League campaign will end on May 22. But the players have already done enough for one of them to be named the best Premier League player of the season.

    The eight players that were nominated for the Premier League player of the season are Mohamed Salah, Heung-Min Son, Kevin De Bruyne, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Bukayo Saka, and Joao Cancelo, Jarrod Bowen, and James Ward-Prowse.

    To determine who is the best Premier League player for the 2021-2022 season, the stats of such a player will be the determining factor. Hence, all the stats of the aforementioned players will be examined before we name our best Premier League player of the season.

    1. Mohamed Salah of Liverpool

    Mohamed Salah has been on fire in the Premier League campaign this season. The 29-year-old Egyptian right-winger played a prominent role in ensuring that Liverpool contend for the Premier League title until the last day of the season.

    Due to his tremendous effort in Liverpool’s campaign this season, he was named the 2022 Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year and could have been named the best Premier League player of the season too.

    Note that Mohamed Salah played 34 Premier League games this season in which he scored 22 goals and provided 14 assists. He is currently the league’s highest goalscorer this season.

    1. Heung-Min Son of Tottenham Hotspur

    Heung-Min Son has been the most productive player at Tottenham Hotspur this season. The 29-year-old left-winger has been instrumental in ensuring that Tottenham Hotspur broke into the top four this season.

    So far in the 2021-2022 season, Heung-Min Son who is currently the second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League has played 34 league games in which he scored 21 goals and provided 9 assists.

    This means that he is a goal away to be a joint top scorer of the season. But if he could score two goals in Tottenham’s league game against Norwich City on May 22, he could become the league’s top scorer since Salah might not play against Wolves due to fitness issues.

    1. Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City

    Kevin De Bruyne is the stand-out player in Manchester City’s squad for the 2021-2022 season. He played a major part in ensuring that Manchester City remain leaders of the league table.

    Kevin De Bruyne has played just 29 Premier League games due to fitness issues. Despite that, the 30-year-old Belgian attacking midfielder has scored 15 goals and provided 7 assists in the league.

    Trent Alexander-Arnold has been a very phenomenon player in Liverpool’s campaign in the 2021-2022 season. Though he is a right-back, the 23-year-old English defender has contributed a lot to Liverpool’s attack.

    So far this season, Alexander-Arnold has played 31 Premier League games in which he scored two goals and provided 12 assists. He is the provider of the second-highest assists this season, one assist below Salah.

    But the fact that Bukayo Saka has grown to become the most dependable player in coach Mikel Arteta’s squad has made it difficult for the English youngster to be ignored.

    So far in the 2021-2022 season, Saka has scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists in 37 league games. Saka and his teammates have the potential of finishing in the 4th or 5th spot in the league this season but the 5th spot is 90 percent certain.

    The contention for the 2021-2022 Premier League player of the season basically involved Mohamed Salah, Heung-Min Son, and Kevin De Bruyne.

    However, whether Liverpool win the Premier League title or not, Mohamed Salah is expected to be named the 2021-2022 Premier League player of the season based on stats. The Egyptian forward is currently the league’s top scorer, and top assists provider, and contributed 36 goals to Liverpool’s 91 Premier League goals this season. No player in the league has done so much this season.

    But since the players were subjected to fans’ votes, it became a popularity contest and Kevin De Bruyne was voted the best Premier League player of the season for the 2021-2022 season ahead of Salah.
